The Aspen School Board may be contacted at:Kate Johnson ~ is a founding teacher at Aspen Academy. Kate has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a Math emphasis from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. She has experience teaching grades 2-4 and has taught math enrichment in grades 1-5. She currently teaches second grade and serves on the Governance Committee.
Rachel Mong ~ is one of the founding Board members of Aspen Academy. She has a B.A. in Sociology and professional experience in Business and Financial Services at Janus Funds and Alliance Capital. She is now a stay-at-home mom of three. She serves on the Governance, Facility and Elections Committees and is the Board Vice Chair.
Jeff Reistad ~ is one of the founding Board members of Aspen Academy. Jeff is a graduate of the Business Management and Economics program at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Currently he serves as Vice President of Sales at the McGraw-Hill Companies. Jeff has a long history of community service including working with Younglife as a leader since 2005. He serves as the chair of the Facility Committee and is the Board Chair.
Kelly Rosenow ~ is a founding teacher at Aspen Academy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Concordia University with a minor in Special Education. She has experience in grades 2-6, taught Title 1, and has previous charter school experience. She currently teaches first grade and serves as chair of the Marketing Committee.
Maggie Rowan ~ is a founding teacher at Aspen Academy. She graduated from St. Scholastica with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. She is also licensed as a media specialist. She has 14 years' teaching experience and previous charter school experience. She chairs the Program Services Committee.
KJ Singh ~ joined the board in April 2008. KJ has a Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, and a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Delhi University, Delhi, India. He is the Vice President of Technology and Software Development at NCS Pearson.He chairs the Strategic Planning Committee, the Finance Committee, and serves as the Board Treasurer.
Stephanie Smitley ~ is one of the founding Board members of Aspen Academy. Stephanie has a B.A. in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught Kindergarten and First grade for 8 years in California before moving to Prior Lake. She chairs the Governance Committee and serves as the Board Secretary.
Laurel Smith ~ joined the board in May 2010. Laurel has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Hamline University and a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. Laurel’s professional experience as an attorney includes negotiating contracts and advising on employment law matters.
