A Core Knowledge Charter School in Prior Lake, Minnesota, Serving the Twin Cities Southern Suburbs
Aspen Academy

Volunteering

Aspen Academy values the skills, interests, and talents that parent volunteers bring to our school.  During our opening year we had parents help install cabinetry, talk to students about their job or heritage, create bulletin boards, scan materials for the Smart Boards, assist on field trips, shop for teachers, sew, supervise the lunchroom, and a variety of other activities that made the school a wonderful place for the students.

We ask families to commit to 40 hours of volunteer time over the course of the school year--and this can be fulfilled by any member of the family.  We even have grandparents help at the school which is extra special for our students!  In order to ensure the safety of all students, we require either an orientation training (or background check) for all adults working with our students.  Orientation trainings are offered at several times in the fall, but become less frequent as the year progresses so we encourage family members to attend early.  This way, when that exciting field trip comes up, you're ready to volunteer!

We have many different volunteer opportunities. Below is a list of volunteer needs. This list will be updated regularly.

  •  Book Leveling in All Classrooms - We need volunteers to research the book levels of all the classroom Library books and affix stickers to the book to notate the reading level. Please contact your classroom teacher if you would like to work on this project at school or take books home with you to work on them at your convenience.
  • Science Bins in All Classrooms - We need volunteers to help assemble Science Bins for all the classrooms. Please contact your classroom teacher if you would like to help with this project.
