Aspen Academy is committed to being the best we can be, meeting the individual needs of students, and being responsive to parent input.  Below are the results of our annual parent survey.  As you read through it, we ask that you keep two things in mind.  First is that the section on Specialists (e.g. Art, Music, etc.) asks about the "program" not the individual teacher of those classes.  The second is that there was wide variance in the number of parents who chose to answer individual questions.  Some questions had as few as 67 responders, while other questions had as many as 95 responders.  For this reason, we chose to post the responses in percentage format.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Parental involvement is key to Aspen Academy.  Students perform better, and take more pride in their school work and their school when they know their parents are interested and involved in their education.  We value a partnership with parents and encourage you to talk to your child's teacher about ways you can be involve both at school and at home.  Below is some basic information about Aspen.

Uniforms
Aspen students wear uniforms.  The tops are an all-white or evergreen polo or turtleneck.  Bottoms are khaki pants, shorts, skorts, or skirts.  Girls may also wear a green plaid jumper.  Shoes must be black, brown, or white without markings.  For more specific information and dealers who carry our uniform, please contact the office.

School Hours
School hours are 8:30--3:30.  Student drop-off begins at 8:15am.  Our specialists (Art, Music, Phy Ed and Spanish teachers) will meet you as you pull through the drop off lane, and escort your children into the building.  School starts at 8:30.  If you arrive after the specialists have returned to the building, we ask that you park and escort your child in yourself so we are assured of his or her safe arrival.  Parents dropping students off for afternoon Kindergarten are asked to wait with their children until a teacher arrives to unload the students and see them safely into the building.

Lunch
We contract with a catering company for our hot lunches.  Students may preorder hot lunches on a weekly basis or bring a bag lunch from home.  Monthly menus are posted on our website.

Outdoor weather policy

If the wind-chill or temperature is below zero students or if it is raining at Aspen will have indoor recess and will not be going outside.  This decision is made by the teachers at the time of their recess because the temperature has a tendency to rise throughout the day.  Please make sure your students bring the proper outside weather clothes any day of the winter just in case it is above zero anywhere between 11:50am-12:45pm, thank you.

Free and Reduced Lunch Forms
